Who is the editing doctor?

The editing doctor

J Colleen Berry, Ph.D.

白凯琳/白凱琳    コリーンベリー,博士

A retired professor with over twenty-five years of experience editing all types of documents, I offer special expertise in editing academic papers, especially in the social sciences and humanities. My own field is Chinese literature and I have worked with many professionals who speak Chinese and Japanese as well as English. I have edited manuscripts in history, anthropology, literature, linguistics, political science, social work, art, geography, international relations, religion, language teaching, women and gender studies, law, and other disciplines.

In addition to copyediting and proofreading, I can also help with the organization and development of your manuscript.  My guiding principles are clarity, conciseness, and accuracy. My goal is to keep your voice and not change your meaning in any way while making your manuscript as smooth and error-free as possible.

I also have experience editing a variety of other types of writing such as statements of purpose, policy papers, university catalogs, conference announcements, instruction and
emergency manuals, apps, and official documents.

“A language is something infinitely greater than grammar and philology. It is the poetic testament of the genius of a race and a culture, and the living embodiment of the thoughts and fancies that have moulded them.”
